4th, 5th and 6th Grades

Students in Mrs. Hiltunen’s 4/5/6 Sacred Heart School  class enjoyed a beautiful afternoon at the L’Anse waterfront studying macroinvertebrates in the Linden Creek.  They collected and identified several aquatic organisms, such as caddisfly and mayfly larvae, that indicate we have great water quality here in L’Anse.

Michelle Miller from WUPC for science, mathematics and environmental education led the group.  She instructed students in the  proper technique of netting, collecting, and identifying the specimens.

Back in the classroom, students observed several items under microscopes and presented their findings to the class.
