Karen Sands, PrincipalAfter teaching at SHS for 27 years, I have now assumed the position as the principal. I believe a catholic education is one of the most valuable gifts a child can be given. I have 2 children, Kara and Mike (both SHS grads) and 5 beautiful grandchildren.

Rhonda Lahti, SecretaryI have been married to my husband Jim since April 1982. We have a son, Jesse, and 3 grandchildren, Reeyce, Kaylee, Ty, and one more due in January 2012! I have had the pleasure of working with the parents and staff at Sacred Heart School since April 2005. I am also employed, part-time, by the KBIC Head Start Program in L’Anse (where I have worked as a bus driver, teacher, and in administration). I have always enjoyed working in the early childhood/school setting. Children always have a way of brightening your day! |
Pat Marinich, Librarian & Teacher’s AideI was born in and still live in L’Anse. I graduated from Sacred Heart School in 1977 and then went to L’Anse and graduated in 1983.I started working at Sacred Heart School in 2001 as librarian and since then have worked as bookkeeper and now am enjoying work as teacher aide. I am a member of the Knights of Columbus and I am a Packer fan.

Wendy Freeman, Second and Third GradeI teach grades 2 and 3 at Sacred Heart School. This is my 15th year teaching full time in a Catholic school. I received a BS from NMU in the School of Management. I earned a teaching certificate from Concordia College in St. Paul, MN. I enjoy teaching and encouraging a love of learning within students. |
Wendy Hiltunen, Fourth, Fifth & Sixth GradeI attended Dearborn’s Divine Child Catholic School for 12 years. I am also a Graduate of University of Michigan and Western Governors University Teacher’s College. I have been married for 23 years and have 2 beautiful teen daughters. I am very excited to teach at SHS. Staff, parents, and students are all wonderful!
